Chamber Music Summer School – Mount Buller runs each January at the Mount Buller Ski village situated in the north-eastern alps of Victoria. This residential school caters for up to 12 chamber string groups, composed mainly of string players. Planning of the summer school is carried out each year by an experienced committee who also attend as students.
The committee is discussing what, if anything, might be possible for a 2021 Summer School that would run in accordance with the guidelines for managing risk of Covid-19 infection. It seems very likely that the current requirements for disinfection and social distancing will still be in force in January, and this will have practical impacts on Summer School planning.
There are many unknowns at this stage, and we can’t make any promises, but we wanted to let you know that we are discussing possibilities for running the School, perhaps with smaller numbers, from 17th-24th January 2021.
Our timetable for keeping you informed will have to be very different this year. We hope to have more definite information for you in October, after the ski lodges have evaluated the running of a ski season under Covid-19 rules, and – hopefully – the general pandemic situation has become clearer.
